Thanks so much, I actually mention you in an upcoming ep and how you probably even wouldn’t do that, thanks so much, I just FIXED everything, I’d hate to ruin it now.
I tried to DM 1780s about helping if someone tries to do something on the board but he never wrote back, you come up like 1-2 more time in the next 5 eps that are in the can, pumping them out as I go.

Hi Gio… I have been working on a project to make some TACS “Soundtrack” albums. I started in January (after thinking about doing this for the whole of 2011) and now I am working my way backward through all of the “radio show” style episodes of the podcast. Basically, any time they play a song on the show I then go and track it down and add it to my soundtrack albums. I have organised it so that 1 album equals 1 month of the podcast, and it is averaging to be about 20-30 songs per album. It’s clear to me that my labour of love (collating these albums) is nothing compared to what you are doing… but still. I just wanted to know if you would like access to these musical compilations that I have started to amass? I am more than happy to share them with you if you’re interested. Okay, take care and thanks for all you’ve done and are still doing.

Gio, I can’t thank you enough. I’m working as a long haul truck driver and your mutual love of everything Carolla has made my life so much nicer. To you I dole out the highest accolades. The miles melt away with your quality podcast. Literally, I listen to pod 14 to 20 hours per day. I go to bed and thank that you you are hard at work, with ear buds. I’ll catch up to your most recent broadcast eventually but these long lasting casts make a boring and arduous day prettty tolerable.
You needd a donate button!!!!! It’s just not fair that you provide as much entertainment as you do without compensation.
You do superb work. I burn through all of the ACE podcasts so quickly but I save yours for those long hauls, so I can really savor them.. Keep up the AWESOME work. Your work is so very appreciated.

Well who knows, Right now I could create sets of 2001-2005 COMPLETE from non circulated HQ Stereo MP3′s, without using any recordings that have been posted online, I could do that for WW1 and then give them all the money and use that to inspire them to give me the old tapes, or I could give them a prototype with the files just so they could see it in action but they have already gone through the ACP dvd’s so they know what this is.
Ideally they would let me start from scratch with all their tapes, I would then fill all holes they have in their archive(they have many) with those non public duplicate/alternate non circulated mp3′s and then at most a dozen of the circulated files or parts of them if need be, but I would try to get those bits from my own transfers and sources to avoid any 3rd parties who might try to pull shenanigans for 14min of audio they recorded one time.

The main worry on the part of WW1 is that fans have ruined the opportunity to make money on these or that fans will only be buy 1995,1996,1997,1998, so much so Anderson even repeats that from time to time on air when he slips up.

They don’t realize the majority of us are cool and the vast majority of the people who listen to this(max 6k) do “get it” and understand the difference between Lovelinetapes.com and this show and other things like it and premium official MP3′s from the horses mouth.

This is the age of the digital download first, pay the artist later for the premium package, they need to get that, also the art is going to be insane, shit my 30min gimp software edited versions are kinda ok, new art would be killer, 300yr potential shelf life.

Also if I can be put in charge I can remove all legal worry from WW1 and the new parent company while taking care of the fans, in ways a large company doesn’t get, basically have no fear I’m not going to sell your shit back to you, just like the ACP discs I will bust my ass and get different files and the best I can whenever possible, I will also help secure other content from the tapes for “archival” purposes in case it can’t be shared on the DVD’s but fans might one day need to have …

I have uploaded large multiple file albums to itunes and tunecore and other 3rd party online platforms as well as purchased from many of them too, when I bought the longshot season 1 from itunes many files errored out, itunes gave me one more try but they failed again and refused to do anything but give 1 song credit for a 10 dollar 26 track 90min average length mp3 album, itunes refuses to tell users to disable simultaneous downloads of larger files albums, it’s not the downloading the but their store software limitations as files always error out on the post processing and even though you can find a full file in the .tmp directory it’s damn near impossible to retag/name it and make it playable file.
Then you have to contact the producers of the show to send you the missing links, with these files and the amount of sales it would require a full time staffer just to relink people to files that failed even if itunes wasn’t used.
then you lose 30% of the money off the top, also you have at most 1-5 DL attempts, if you lose your hard drive, if you have a solar flare wipe out your archive, whatever, if you have a glass pressed dvd it has a shelf life longer than you or I.
You are getting mp3′s you can play anyway possible, you just need to import them, shit you can do it from a ps3 or xbox or anything with a dvd drive.
This is the best solution, if 26 files are impossible to get without having to go back and fix many errors, 2600 are just not feasible.

The problem is we all have to be in agreement in order to make this happen, we are only at about 1 1/2% the comments I need to get this moving more, might be DOA.

But just know no matter what happened, I would give me email to everyone who bought a set and if they ever needed raw files or back ups or whatever I am always game to help for free and not trouble anyone else at all.

The DVDs are data discs packed with mp3s, you import them into your computer, they are playable via home DVD player, computer DVD drive and even many car players. Even if you didn’t have a disc drive, a USB one can be bought for 10 bucks just to import the discs into your iTunes or archive or whatever.

This is just a permanent glass pressed master that will last 300 yrs and you can pull the mp3s off unlimited times as opposed to a one time download of 260 files per year and 2700+ total files, it would be really difficult for even one user to have a perfect experience with that even under the best conditions.

Mp3s are what’s on the disc. Video would be bonus only. These are just like my ACP and lbfm DVDs sets.

In terms of online mp3 distribution, no. WW1 BARELY can grasp the idea of DVD sets and already sell files online they had an online distribution plan, 1 random edited show per month for 5 bucks. So 203 years and 13,500 per complete set of files.

The entire archive sans 500 files us online now for free and we never stop hearing about how difficult it is to download the files, people whine for us to come and click their mouse because its too much work.

Even batch years at a Time is flawed other shows do this download time outs are even too much for iTunes and you only get 1 retry per file.

Thank you for your podcast. It is one of a handful that I have listened to every episode. The most recent episodes have meant a lot to me. The Cake episode was my first loveline and the Kari episode with the scrotum and whore songs is one of my favorites I always wanted to hear again but could never figure out the guest. If you’re going to Schmidty’s KC show I would love to buy you a drink or a sandwich or whatever.

I just realised that I’ve literally never interacted with another Carolla fan. I’ve looked at the boards on Adam’s website but they just seem to be full of angry idiots roaring at one another. I thought it would be a discourse between people that actually like him and want to discuss the shows.

Also, I’m constantly amazed at the people there who hate Adam but appear to listen to his show to rant about it. Presumably they also stand outside restaurants that they hate, yelling through the glass at the people having dinner there.

Hi Giovanni. I’m an Englisman living in Ireland and discovered Adam when he started the podcast. Since then I’ve been working my way through the G.I.O. podcasts too and love them – at least as much as the current show Adam does. Thanks for all the hard work. It’s very much appreciated.

I remember you referring to some kind of cctv incident between Fletcher from Pennywise and Adam, outside the studio. Is there a link to that footage?!

So Adam was right, based on those statements, Shirley lead the life of a loveline caller, coupled with her dad, bingo!

hey gio,

big fan of everything you are doing here, with the loveline tape restorations, the interviews, everything. I was a loveline listener ever since i left on KROQ while falling asleep when i was in junior high, probably around 96 or 97. every since i first heard that nasal tone, and the sound of drew hitting his coffe mu on the mic, i was hooked. I remember hearing tons of these episodes live, from all those years ago. It never even crossed my mind that someone would be working on a project to restore all those long-lost tapes until I heard you on the podcast for the first time (although i do remember your calls to the morning show, as the most miserable man i hawaii). I know how hard you have worked on loveline tapes, although i have to say…I never find myself listening to individual episodes from the site. I would rather listen to your podcast, not only for updates about your personal life and updates about ACE, but for your interviews and the insight you sometimes shed on things that never even crossed my mind about Adams history.

I must confess that i actually enjoy the old loveline material more than the current podcast, not to say i’m not a fan because i really am. Its just that adam seemed hungrier and more …i don’t know, just different. What are your feelings on this? clearly you’re a loveline fan, but you have a role in the podcast as well. Do you even have a preference?

anyway, just wanted to drop you a line. You’re actually the first podcast host i’ve ever written to, odd as i subscribe to over 40 different ones, just feel a connection with you even tho we’ve never met. I live in LA most of the year…if u ever need anything while you’re out here, let me know

and i really dont want to sound like a presumptious ass, or make myself seem important or anything, but if you’re ever hard up for a guest, i would love to do it. talking about my favorite deceased radio show with you would be awesome.

Hey Giovanni, I know you’re having a rough time and I hope it gets better for you soon man. Just throwin this out there while its fresh it my mind. Since we finally heard from the talent behind the Taboo II theme on the Feb 3rd of ACS maybe the theme for an upcoming G.I.O. Podcast could be Taboo II or “The Music of Taboo II.” For instance, I remember a 2003 LL show with Ron Jeremy (fresh off surreal life I believe) where Ron says something about the producer of the music for the film living next door to the Jackson family and him speculating that might have something to do with the epic soundtrack? It’d be kind of fun to trace the origins and legend of Taboo II from its first mention on LL thru the recent call on ACS. Maybe even try to get the guitarist back on the phone? Just spit-ballin. I will be doing two DFG episodes, the first sometime in the next dozen volumes with Dune from Dune Reads Goosebumps and the comics online podcast as my guest, then a 2nd volume sometime in 2012 with DFG in character and another interview where he is not, should be lost of DFG in 2012.

I just don’t have any time right now, also I have to record the interview with Adam for 100 still, trying to make that happen before 2012 but we’ll see.

Crazy interview guest idea: In August of 2005, a kid named Jameson Jones was a guest on LL. He survived cancer and his ‘make a wish’ was to guest on LL. I for one enjoy the interviews with obscure LL players like Narren, Theo, Berbine, Engineer Mike etc much more than Lynette, Adam, August, Donny.

If you ever get really desperate for an interview, let me know.

I know that Darrin, You need to quit assuming you know why or how I do things, perhaps I was doing that intentionally in order to prevent her from saying anything that should be reserved for official ACS business and is not suitable for my show, I have to keep in mind many factors about what is and is not addressed in certain interviews.

Whatever you need or want to know will be covered in the best possible way by the best possible source, I would prefer to not ruin that for you or any other fans of the show, nor do I want to step on any toes or upset anyone by poking my nose in business where it does not belong.

Not everyone knows the back story at ACS. Yo need to quit interrupting Lynnette when she’s trying to explain things….I like the podcast and normally don’t listen to your interviews but less interrupting would be nice. We get it you have the inside scoop but we don’t so when you have someone on who can tell what’s going on let them…..sorry don’t mean to be rude but it was a little irritating

Hey Gio, I love Carolla to death but I just wish he’d promote himself a little better. I was flipping through the channels tonight and caught the very end of his interview on Leno. He’s always going on different TV and radio shows and I just wish I knew when and what he was going to be on. Maybe this is a stupid question, but is there a place to find out his appearances prior them being aired? He mentions them occasionally on the podcast but usually after the fact it seems. Any help would be greatly appreciated. And keep up the amazing work, I’ve been turning a couple different friends onto your podcast and they all love it as much as I do! I’ve been meaning to let you know that some morning show clips would be great. I found Carolla in January of 2010 and I’ve been devouring old Loveline and anything else with Carolla in it. I’ve listened to everyone of your episodes and I’d love to hear some more of the morning show. The clips of T’s “Ex Files” were hilarious and unfortunately the extent of my morning show exposure. I’d be really interested in hearing how the morning show evolved from the beginning.

Great ep again GIO!! Enjoyed the interview too. I could definitely relate to being an isolated Carolla fan. Think I’ve got Jesus covered in terms of being isolated:-))
I must be out of the loop with the Donny, Sandy stuff. Puts you in an awkward position obviously, but I’m sure there is good reason for whatever is going on.

I loved it but I thought they kinda focused a little too much on the 3D aspect of the movie. Maybe I should have been a little high or something but it was still a good movie. Nice interview, but frankly Greg Fitzsimmons gets exposed every time he is sitting next to Adam. The only time I have heard him be mildly funny was crowd work during a live show.

If you are low on guests I’d love to hear Dave Feeny. Love how his show took everyone in the studio and turned them into a character for the show- Blastergirl, Doubleton, Jacuzzi Pete etc… Stuff like the Knuckels Mosowwitz radio play made DoT one of the most interesting podcasts to watch the progression- really harkening back to classic OTR like Jack Benny. Be nice to hear if Feeny has any interest in returning to the medium.

What happened to Donnie? Is he still in the ACE Broadcasting bull pen? I haven’t heard him or his wife Kathy for some time and I am curious what’s going on. Also what happened with the Ustream stuff? I coughed up the $$ hoping to support Adam and then they announce it will no longer be a nightly show. Yikes.
I am very concerned about you and your health. I suggested that you take advantage of some health care options before the end of the year but it sounds like you are going to be working to much to do much of anything. I wish you still lived in the PNW and I’d cook for you. I worry sick about your nutrition and know you could get used to some home cooked vegetarian meals. Your fans needs you and if I knew where to send you some greenbacks I’d do it, so would others who are about you. Take care buddy and don’t let the little stuff get you down.

I remember working in the backroom of a target in 2006 and 2007 and I discovered Carolla for the first time on the radio. You know, I think I actually liked the morning show a little more than loveline. Bonaduce single-handedly destroyed and corrupted something beautiful and pure, but it was only for a year. Some thoughts on your thoughts:

1. Anderson has the right to say whatever he wants about Adam. I think its kind of funny how you take offense with Anderson’s “disrespect” towards Adam seeing as how you aren’t exactly the most cordial guy in the world. He’s defended Adam in the past, explaining his brand of comedy to those who don’t get it. People are entitled to their opinions.

2. Your style of throwing out scarring moments of your past and general paranoia is very funny. Cioffi’s nervous laughter was palpable.

3. I think you wildly misinterpreted the final episode of The Film Vault. Anderson has stated that he enjoyed interacting with the listeners and making friends in Logan and the rest of the ACE crew. Despite this, you have the temerity to state your dissatisfaction with them not thanking you. Regardless of anything, its a very uncool thing to say “Why didn’t they thank me?”

I don’t hate you Giovanni and I’m not attacking you. I’m just stating my opinions.

I just wanted to drop you a line to let you know I appreciate your show and thank you for the time you’ve spent putting it together. I’m a huge fan of Adam and listened to many of his shows during the Loveline years for the classic reason it helped me get through some pretty dreary jobs. I can clearly recall many parts of the shows featured in this episode, especially the interviews with Kurtwood Smith. While I’m heaping praise on you I also wanted to mention I enjoyed the long format of the show, I was able to dole it out for a couple of days to help me get through my current dreary job.

I appreciated the suggestion of listening during commutes (I listened on the way to and from the gym, and to the daily ACS podcast while exercising), and finished up this afternoon. It was entertaining as well as informing and it’s always nice (and a rare treat) listening to you shoot the breeze with Adam (and it’s great being able to sense his appreciation of you).

And as for you wanting to worry less maybe you should try a form (or certain traits) of Buddhism. Adam seems to engage parts of his life in a zen like fashion (the singular focus and letting stuff roll off you like water off a ducks backs. Then again I’ve had the same goal as you (to worry less) without the demons and stopped pretty much when I turned 50 so maybe it’ll happen to you at an earlier age since you’re so focused on it.

And having someone to go through life with should help a lot (I’m thinking your positive qualities will rub off on each other while diminishing the negative ones).

Well the official listing of all the guests in order is on the YEAR 1 DVD, I can’t give out the tags cause they’re my work and the main selling point for the DVD’s if anyone did do that I would have to quit doing this show, took me over a year of work to do that, plus there in recording order which is even more difficult.

The Release order is noted in the tags for the dvd set but it would take over a week to export them back out of order, why not just buy the Combo pack, it doesn’t go to me but it’s one of the best ways to support the ACS, not a lot of middlemen, my show and my work relies on the ACS, the sales of the DVD’s are being used to convince “other parties” to let me do the official LL tapes.

Sorry I can’t give away this part of my work for free and cannot support anyone doing it, The way back machine online should show you all the ACP pages in order, you could use that or archive.org hosts the first 9 months of shows in standard low quality you can use that as well, both would be quicker than anything I would be able to do.

Gio, I have every single Adam Carolla Podcast since Feb 23,2009. This is taking up a bunch of space on my computer so I’m burning them onto DVDs so I can delete them off of my hard drive. I was wondering if you have a list of all the guests who were on every podcast so I have some way of referencing an episode if I want to listen to a specific one?

Was reflecting on my favorite LL clip, haven’t heard it yet on your podcast (currently on ep 47.) Was the late 90′s and Adam sounded exceptionally fatigued and bitched at great length about the slow-to-turn stop lights on his way home from the show. quote “I sit. I sit and I rot…” It wasn’t a classic yelling rant, but has stuck with me all these years. Say it to my wife when I’m pissed at lights, she doesn’t get it.

You might want to sit down, Gio. In the “batting cage” call, prior to Adam “guessing” that her boyfriend works at the batting cage, the gal mentions that he works at a “sports complex” or something of that ilk. Both Adam and Drew are sort of talking over her at the time, but I think it’s safe to say that Adam at least subconsciously heard it. That said, I just listened to a random show from ’99 and Adam out of nowhere knew that a gal’s husband worked in siding.

I would never have been exposed to Mike Schmidt but for GIO getting him on Carolla’s show. He is funny. This ep was my first exposure to his podcast it is good. He obviously has quite a bit of ability to keep going without missing a beat on his own.

But I have to agree that the annoying broad laughing in the background is awful. Maybe if I listen to it enough I will be able to tune it out?

GIO please don’t take this as an insult to you. I am sure Schmidt has heard these sorts of complaints and he doesn’t care. I presume he thinks it adds to show/his performance. But I would bet that it turns a lot of people off.

Hey this episode was AMAZING!!! when I heard Schmidt on acs I wasn’t too much into him since all they talked about was schmidt being overweight and it didn’t give him a chance to shine. The clip you used from Schmidt show about his visit to acs and how he knew there were going talk about his weight.

You have turned me Into a schmidt fan. I have never been so captivated by a story on a podcast, it was great. I am gonna download his show ASAP. Thanks for showing me the podcast.

I just wanted to drop by and say that I had never actually listed to LL before this podcast. I had only become an Ace fan when he started the podcast. I used to think he was stupid and sexist etc before I actually listened to the man. Now I totally love him. I am so glad you have put this together so that I can go back and listen to all of the things I missed over the years.

Again, great work Gio! The liquor run story never gets old! You mention in your interview with Hatosy the Jeremy Davies audition tapes for his role as Manson. Have you seen ‘Helter Skelter’? Thats the movie those were for, and it was actually a made for TV movie, not a straight to DVD release. If you have not seen it, I HIGHLY recommend it!

Another brilliant podcast Carano is a super guest and you can tell how much he likes you. Lots of people do and you have fans far and wide who listen to your podcast in the most unusual age groups and geographic locations. You should take him up on his offer to pay you to compile his “loot” and clean up his computer files. I’m sure it would be lots of work but it might have many side benefits too.
Keep up the good work and I agree that learning to live in the present might be the best gift Adam could give to and example of getting out from under mental sabotage. Peace to you Gio.

I’m doing my best to make NYC, right now it’s a money/hotel hiccup but I’m waiting on two potential checks, so … I’m 85% sure I’ll be there but whatever can go wrong often does with me.

Hey thanks! you’re not doing anything wrong, the site is kinda convoluted, I couldn’t afford to pay for all the shows and didn’t want to pull them, but finally had to, episodes 1-4 are in the archive only and the links are offsite(megaupload) but should be working, then there are two volumes I couldn’t speak on due to losing my voice so I moved them to the archive too, just in case there was any issue with me not adding content of my own, the remaining episodes are all available on the site in each post, there are 60 posts, it depends on how you’re viewing the site, if on a smart phone turn off the mobile view, if on a full computer just save the blue links found in each episode post here, or you can use the RSS found on the right hand side of the page, or the itunes link, whatever you prefer.

hey gio… get it on. i heard you recently on the adam carolla show and wanted to check out your site. looks cool so far. but i am confused and maybe doing something wrong… on the episode guide page, i can see episodes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 – and then it jumps to 43. i can see all of the show notes but they don’t have links to download the episodes. how to i get episode 8 thru 42?

Hey Gio, people who get bone marrow transplants have to heal up and then get all new immunizations. I think if you want to look into this you should look beyond Dr. Drew’s advice. Washingtton state was recently quoted as being the state in the country with the most children who have not been properly vaccinated. Get on it pal while you have health insurance. Do something positive for you this week okay?

Loving the show Gio. Is there any way you can get Mike Carano back on for an interview? His first interview was really interesting and with LLAD gaining a little popularity and his “5 mins with Mike” series on ACE Net it would be a good time for a follow up. Hey Giovanni,

Man, you sounded quite glum at the outset of episode 66. I just wanted to say that, regardless of what your detractors might say, G. I. O. is a fantastic piece of work. This podcast has given me far more laughs than the ACS ever has, and I for one think you should be proud of the work you’ve put into it. It certainly must be a labor of love (sometimes more of the former, less of the latter I’m sure), but I believe there are many like me who immensely appreciate your dedication and product. They should speak up more.

So, notwithstanding the other drama in your life, dont sweat what those holier-than-thou a-holes say about you from time to time. You’ve got something to be proud of here, and I’m thankful for it.

A genuinely good, fun episode.

I wish you’d write a chronology of Adam’s life because we hear bits and pieces and its hard to hold the whole thing in your head and the autobiography doesnt clear too much up.

Was Lazlo the jewish-Hungarian step father married to Adam’s mother? I though she’d didnt leave her bed room?

Interesting to hear Adam talk about carbon monoxide poisoning. If you listen to Jim Carolla’s show he has talked about how his childhood was disrupted when his mother, who was a superstitious Sicilian, because that someone at the hospital had “gassed” him. After that she raised him like a veal to protect him from society- which is why he is as passive as Adam says.

Hey Gio. Can’t believe it’s your fifth appearance on the podcast. You need to get into a more regular rotation over there at ACE. I think an episode every two months would be perfect for you as voice of the fans to chat with Adam and bring up topics that fans are interested in. Work around August to make that happen. I appreciated how you got Adam to share a bit more about the radio decision. Stellar job.

Thanks a lot, yeah the comments are like that every time I’m mentioned or appear on the show, see they don’t moderate unless it’s a special scenario.

There are around a dozen fans with an agenda who coordinate via email/private messages and arrange to post that shit, they use “proxies” and dummy email accounts.

I suppose I could go post 100-200 positive comments to counter act them, but in reality only a crazy person would pretend to be a group of people and spam a site like that, just not worth my time.

I was voted the 14th greatest recurring guest on the show after my 3rd episode, so people can “pretend” to speak for some large group but it’s just not reality.

I genuinely appreciate the kind comments, they mean more than you can know, now is just the time where I need to bury my head and hide out till everything blows over.

Hey gio I thought I’d throw in a question or two for the ace man.

After hearing his declaration about sticking with the podcast and turning down a radio deal, where does he see podcasting in the future? After his last visit to the nerdist podcast he seemed to have a tone that he took his and chris’ audience more serious. I know it’s a simple question but does he see ace network as something he can build a loyal fan base to launch books or Live shows, or is he hoping to make money off it with other ads like the amazon deal.

On that note does he feel like other podcasts are taking it as serious as ace net or is he the only one really trying to make this a sustainable industry?

I’m sure you are gonna cover this question so if he has provided an adequate answer before hand you can scrape my question.

I’ve always wondered what some of Adam’s favorite modern comedies are. I know he loves classic Woody Allen and Albert Brooks films, but other than brief mentions, I’ve never heard him go into any detail about any comedies he’s liked since, say, the year 2000? Or even since 2005?

Well the 1 on 1 I wont ask, those are amongst my favorite, it has to do with Adam’s schedule more than anything else, but it’s also fan service in a way, they are amongst the most popular episodes and there are a bunch of other inside reasons, also not doing 1 on 1′s negates my ability to ask your questions … rest are damn solid but some are in my queue already, don’t worry I’ll try, I’m a fan of yours too.

Hey Giovanni, this is @samvance on twitter. Could you ask Ace why, with the great staff he has and the resources available to him, does he still do the 1 on 1 interviews? Is this a thing w/ Bald Bryan and Alison where they can’t be here? Is it an issue w/ paying them? I think the 1 on 1′s create an inconsistency in the product that really throws people.

Alternate question: Jackhole produces Sports Show with Norm MacDonald and Adam is listed as an Exec Prod, is he involved in the show or even aware of his EP credit on the show?

Footnote:
I have listened to almost every Carolla Show podcast except for maybe 5-10 and that includes the KLSX podcasts, so I feel I’ve listened enough to have an informed opinion.

These clip episodes are great. But You shouldn’t be afraid to repeat a clip if it makes sense in the context of the theme of the ep. Keep them coming, I use your show as an intro into the ACP so people can get accustomed to the ace man.

Old tape, old recording, partly it’s how Adam sounded in 95/96, but mostly it’s the tape, this one even had pitch adjustment but it still has issues, as the show info states the quality is the best available, when the show changes for clips, so does the audio.

Hey Gio, love the podcast. You actually told me about it when I was in the gotomeeting live stream of the show where the twitter winners could see the screen.

Here’s a thought that’s kind of been bugging me. You obviously have a dedication to Adam and his work, and from listening to the podcast it’s obvious you have a crazy amount of knowledge on a dozen different topics. This leads me to believe that you must have some form of autism or something, which is all fine and good. My problem is that you over explain a lot of things that you simply don’t need to, like how you record things on Skype and why the call quality is bad, etc. You can cut down the size of the podcast simply by not mentioning this stuff. I don’t mind that you set up clips — in fact, I LIKE that you do that — but I don’t need to know about some other dude’s podcast or what some guy is up to or that you’re working hard on clips and stuff (that last one is a given, it’s obviously you do a ton of work for this podcast). Maybe I’m just bitching about nothing but I think if you toned down some of the rambling, you’ll find that you’re producing a much better podcast. Anyway, thanks a ton for making this, and keep up the good work.

great episode Gio, I can’t believe this was only 3 hours and change. It’s too bad that the miss movies interview couldn’t be longer but it was good to hear from her since she hasn’t been on the film vault.

Not sure if you’ll remember but have you ever played any loveline episode that had susan pinsky on them from the GIO pod? I felt like I had heard her and adam talking together, maybe it was just me listening to a Loveline episode and that’s why it sounds familiar. don’t worry I’m not criticizing it’s just I had that feeling you get when you know an actors face but you can’t remember the name. Her bitchiness sounded so familiar.

Look at the last DoT page- there are 6 people crediting as working on that episode!

What is going on! There are no guest to book, no sound drops. No separate sections that need to be edited together. Do all of these people need to be paid staff? The costs are out of control.

The show could be done with one intern and posted to a libsyn account.

Yes, I can see you need premium hosting for ACS and you do need a staff since Adam wants to get on to his next venture right away. But for the second tier shows the cost structure is killing them and we are going to lose some interesting stuff

The show will continue for now, I have some great potential guests lined up and I like making it for people.

As far as the site closures, please do report back that nobody should worry, this is good news. The sites that were shutdown are all pirate, the people who host them whine all day about hosting costs, or this and that, some of them come down with “mysterious” and or uncommon medical problems and then needs even further assistance from their users, it’s nothing new.

The guys who run the sites that got shutdown stole, they stole their files from me and about 38 other people who recorded and transferred all these tapes, they never gave credit where it was due, when credit is all you can give someone who does the kind of work we do and expects nothing in return but leads on more content to uncover for the community. Some of those sites hosted The Hammer in avi format, on http links, no software required and the MPAA wouldn’t even shut them down, they hosted Carolla podcasts, current Loveline, the works.

Basically these sites were ruining everything for all of us, they were going to prevent the official WW1 tapes from ever seeing the light of day, they personally insulted me many times and threatened me with all types of nonsense, meanwhile their 5900 users have no idea I’m the one who created 90% of the files they listen to and spent tens of the thousands of hours and dollars out of pure fandom, then these actual pirates come along and see a buck to be made and think we’re somehow dimwitted for not taking it, when the truth is we refuse to steal from the company that is going to provide us with the complete collection of the Adam era if we can just play ball.

Go to Something awful and anywhere else people discuss LL and tell them to cancel all their non Lovelinetapes.com accounts, dont stop using them, cancel them and make the numbers drop, then have those people aren’t members sign up at Lovelinetapes.com, the most complete collection is housed there with every single file ever created by fans, no donations allowed, no money needed, LLT operates at a loss in hopes to be woven into the WW1 fold.

Hey Gio, I stumbled onto a thread at carollaboards.com that said you were considering ending this podcast. I’ve also read somewhere else that Westwood One is requesting (or, really, demanding) some of the online loveline episode archives to take down their files (although this might be totally off base, this is what I gather from the extensive Loveline thread at the Something Awful forums)

I just wanted to say that you are the man, dude. Fuck the haters, fuck what “the community” thinks, you have done such a great service. I was vaguely aware of loveline the TV show but never watched it, was a fan of The Man Show, always liked Carolla but had no knowledge of the radio show and Carolla’s stint there until about a year ago when I stumbled onto one of the archive sites. I am not joking when I say that listening to these old episodes of loveline have immensely changed my life, my outlook on relationships and human psychology(mostly thanks to Dr. Drew), not to mention have filled countless otherwise mundane and potentially productive hours with mirth and merriment (mostly due to the Ace Man of course).

Don’t ever quit what you are doing. You have been ordained as the Loveline archivist. Some may call you a sycophant or whatever but you are really doing a great service, so keep up the good work and keep this awesome podcast coming, dude. Take care.

At a certain point in this podcast, Adam talks about how he used to spend time trying to get the string back in his gym pants. Then he makes a joke about that sort of problem having been the subject of a knot-promotion set of PSA’s called the “Why Knot?” campaign…

I just watched the first episode of season 1 of Arrested Development, and very close to the beginning there is a protester on a boat holding a sign that says “Why Knot?”

I’ve never heard this pun before, and wonder if somehow Adam’s joke inspired the sign, or is it pure coincidence? If so, that’s pretty weird.

Love Arrested Development, I used to tape it… on VHS tapes! They’d always change the time and I’d never know when it’d be on, drove me nuts. Anyways, this podcast was great. Best Adam quote of the night = “Save your bogosity for the next jock who just fell off the cabbage truck.” Brilliant.

Also… all three seasons are on DVD but they are also on HULU for free. Still waiting for that AD movie

Gio- Its not about “hating”, at least for a lot of us.

In the last DoT, Dameshek starts the show by saying that this is the last show, and they have all been very busy, but then the subject is never addressed again.

There was no explanation in the show of what was going on.

Then in your interview with Donny, the subject of DoT comes up but we never really understand what is going on other than “it was a business decision”. What decision? Was Shek busy on an NFL show? Did Feeny’s pilot get bought? Very confusing.

How would you feel if when the ACS ended there was no notice and Jack Silver allowed Adam only to say “Well looks like this is the last show”?

Eventually we get the story that the Daves wont/cant commit to a weekly show and Donny needs to have a reliable show to sell advertisement or no one is going to bite. Fine- THAT makes sense and that is what this whole thing should have started with.

Episode started great and was later ruined for a long stretch by Zebrahead. Later it was resurrected by rucka rucka Ali. Hated ahead though and I was actually disappointed to learn that they were still active after a google. For whatever reason I wouldve been much better off had I found out that the band disbanded in 2001 and that all of the band members currently worked in fast food.

Did a ton of youtubing tho and saw a ton of Ali bids and have now added his 1st 3 podcasts to give them a try. Good overall.

Don’t worry about the length of the episode. The longer – the better. This was a particularly good one – so many “Out Of Context Drew Drops” came from his Crank Yankers call, and this is the only episode I know that plays it completely.

As always, you’re doing the Lord’s work. If there was one. Maybe there is some guy named Lord. In which case, I wonder where he works?

Love the shows Giovanni! I was too young to enjoy Loveline, Man Show, and Crank Yankers when they were on and was some how oblivious to Carolla until last January. Since then I have been tearing through anything Carolla like a madman. Your podcast has been amazing for me in helping me learn more about the ACE Man and his past. I love every second of it and each day I am amazed more and more at how great this stuff is. Listening to Carolla’s stories: him lighting the wax on fire, sneaking into the house on the booze delivery, and snooping in the closet as his mom walks in, to name a few, are great and have me laughing like nothing ever before. Thanks so much for what you do. The interviews you do are great too. Keep it up!

I think putting the oldest files up on Rapidshare would be your best option, even without a premium account I bet the files would be downloaded enough to stay up. People would catch on fast I imagine, maybe just have a notice on the main page or contact page so people see it when they investigate.

Hey can you do a podcast with the Joey Ramone episode that Adam and Drew mention in the Getty Watanabe episode?

Maybe combine it with some Bad Religion and Offspring segments and have a whole punk themed show with the interview you wanted to do with Allison Rosen tacked on at the end.

I can’t do that yet, if I splinter the show too much it becomes much more difficult to deal with and sometimes the interviews are thematic with the episode, the Columbine episode being a prime example and sometimes there are additional jokes lost, like the Christian Stolte episode where if you only hear the interview you miss the closing clip after the interview that makes the episode a classic.

I kind of intend to release all the interviews separately but I only originally did it because there were recording problems and output file problems on the interviews, I went back and post processed the interviews and made them easier to listen to, now the recordings are as good as they’re going to get with my setup, so I’m not saying no I just don’t know when I can do this, thanks for even being interested enough to request these, maybe I’ll have to make a move on these clips sooner than I intended

I was thinking of other Comedy podcasts with networks, I understand that cnet has a few shows that are over 1k eps too(thanks Laxdude), Smodcast has been around 3yrs and they’ve cranked out around 150, Never not funny has cranked out around 250 in 4 years and other shows that launched around the same time as the ACP/ACS still only have less than 100 shows, I was merely pointing out how much more they do over at ACE, but if we’re going to talk actual podcasts, the ACS had 700 shows and over 7700 segments podcasted from 2006-2009.
The funny thing is now other podcasts are bragging about how they are “live” then released as an mp3 but that’s the very thing people argue against when counting Loveline and the ACS amongst Adam’s podcasts, people are always whining about how “radio/live shows don’t count”(means Gervais doesn’t count either) so Adam’s actual number of “podcasts”(mp3′s of recordings released for him by others as it’s still done) is around 3200.

Thanks for the heads up though, it’s just complicated because some people refuse to count all of Adam’s work for whatever reason but they still count other shows that were live or radio broadcasts then released as mp3′s.

Thanks for the positivity, it’s a nice change of pace, I’m still working on Schmidtty but he’s into it, it should all work out.

The podcast you were thinking of that was riffing on the Antique Roadshow was Joe Rogan.

You are correct that Mike Schmidt would make an awesome guest. In fact I have often thought that Mike should be the guest host while Adam is away instead of some of the stiffs we have been stuck with. If you could get Mike on, I think it would be an awesome ep- both of these dudes can spin.

As far as who has the most podcasts you are way off- I can think of a least a couple that are way ahead of Adam in the count. Keith and the Girl is at 1300, Nobody Likes Onions is over 600. Both of those produce shows that are at least 1hr- sometimes much longer. Dawn and Drew is probably more than a 1000 too.

Anyway, it was a very fun interview to hear- Adam in another gear from what we usually here. Glad everything worked out, love listing to your podcast. Dont stress so much Gio.

Hey I saw an itunes comment about having to “hold down the fast forward button for 5min” from guitarBen(I think).

I only recently discovered this myself with my ipod but if you press the center button while a show is playing you can then choose to select where in the track you listen(it’s like 100x fast forward) I think the majority of ipods have this feature and if you are getting it from itunes it should remember where you left off, I have a nano from a few models ago and it even does this with the 6hr shows.

Just some tips for ya, I hope it helps thanks for the 5 stars GuitarBen.

I met you at the Shelby museum in Boulder- you took a picture of me standing over that Cobra bodied go-cart. I just wanted to say thank you for turning me on to your podcast, & again thank you for all the work you’ve done & continue to do. Sorry to hear you’re a United slave- I tried it once in 3/2000 but my buddy who works ramp TOTALLY should’ve warned me to stay out of Reservations. It was a horrible fit & I went back to being a Kroger slave. Anyway, I’ve been diligently listening & have heard that Shelby museum podcast come up once or twice. I assume Adam vetoed it because A) a lot of the cars were at Sears Point for the nat’l convention, & B) Sandy wasn’t there. I kinda wish I’d intro’d myself to Mike August & Donny, at least ’til Donny starts talking back to Adam in an argument, which always causes me to yell out, “He’s your meal ticket, dumbass! Shut the F up & all I wanna hear is, ‘Yessir, Mr. Carolla.’” This is actually the 2nd time I’ve seen your site-nice! The 1st time it wouldn’t load for my 8 yr. old Mac, so I just went to iTunes & subscribed to your ‘cast. Again- great work & I’m very much appreciating having it to listen to during my 10 hr. graveyard shifts at Mother Kroger. BTW, if you wanna interview any more fans (& the way some of those have gone, I wouldn’t blame you for giving up on that), I could draft an outline of what I feel I’d be qualified to talk about having been a fan since 7/96 & perhaps we could get together down the road. T was sure a gracious interview, & I hope your ipod she got you is still working for you- my 7 yr. old one’s jack is wearing out. Good for T & her “real gig”- I know she’s a tortured soul & that steady income really helps her sleep at night. Well, thanks for taking the time to read this, amongst all your other unpaid tasks. There’s a LL call I’m dying to hear again: a girl called in and said she found a hole drilled in the bathroom wall and she suspected her dad was spying on her friends. Of course, Drew got confused by the situation and Adam gave him shit. Do you know what episode this is from (or which GIO ep it’s on – I haven’t listened to all of them yet)?

How about a compilation of Ace’s most inspirational monologues/diatribes — some good “your helmet’s not a chair” stuff, patriotic stuff and some “get off your ass and do something with your life” speeches to callers. Might be shorter than 6 hours but it would be awesome to have a compilation of it.

thanks for all the work you do. i’m training for a marathon. since i’m often running for hours at a time, i listen to long GIO podcasts almost exclusively while training. not everyone is for having you cut shorter shows. for me, longer is better!

Great ep Gio. I recently returned from Hawaii where I ran into a local at a shop. We got to talking about boxing and talking about Manny Pacquiao. I must have mentioned Aceman and the local interrupts me to say “We don’t like Adam.” I promply replied it was likewise. After a few more minutes, I said Nay sir— you lost a sale. Good times. Keep up the Lord’s work.

I loved all of that post, it means more than you know to read something like that.
I have thought about much smaller eps for easier listening, especially when on the go using a 3g connection, I know how difficult my own show can be to obtain, coupled with the lack of auto resume with this free wordpress hosting and it’s at times impossible to hear.

For now I have to stick with the longer eps, but soon I may be forced in a good or bad way to reduce the length, until then I’m going to get as much out there as possible.

90min will probably never happen, just because I want the shows to be half me and half Adam at the least and that would cut down my interview time but 2hrs is a goal of mine, it’s just a little farther away then some listeners might appreciate.

I will definitely check out that book, I love reading recommendations but rarely ever get them.

Thanks for listening and taking the time to comment about the show, the feedback and other people’s enjoyment is really all I get out of this, that and cool super long LL megamixes I would’ve never built just for me

You are doing such awesome work. I enjoyed your dialogue with Colin and the exchange that took place. You are a smart young man who deserves to soar. You have given so much to so many with your obsession with the Ace Man. Every time I listen to an episode I keep in mind how much energy you have put into it and against such amazing odds.
I do think that you might think about breaking up the episodes into smaller chunks, say ninety minutes, and released more often just for ease of listening. I am hoping you will get a chance to meet Anderson face to face or that Mike C. will convince him that you are a good guy as I have heard him try on the After Disaster. I sense that Anderson has a gruff exterior but a rather soft heart deep down if you listen to him talk about animals and the developmentally delayed children he works with at camp.
Check out a book called DO WHAT YOU ARE and open yourself to the possibilities that may await you career-wise as your life unfolds. This book is required reading by a friend of mine who is a career counselor to high powered people seeking change in their lives. It’s not woo-woo but is based on the theory you do best when you skills and interests intersect. You are too bright to be wallowing in a job you dread going to. Make it a goal to switch it up, we need you back on the W. Coast!

Loved the episode, Giovanni. By the by, you alluded to an incident where Anderson had a “drunken freak-out.” It might be a lot of work, but an Anderson episode of G.I.O. with the freak-out as the centerpiece would be awesome.

If I could make two small suggestions (but overall, a great episode)

1. I dunno if it’s on the board or not, but more detailed instructions (or a link here) with the camera footage of Pennywise, would be nice.

2. Links to the Far Out Podcast, and the Film Vault episodes you mentioned (intern being murdered, Frank (I think) stealing stuff, etc.)

But, just an idea.
